Love GOD. Love one another. Love the city. A GOSPEL community is a group of 8-15 folks from one of Chicago’s 66 neighborhoods gathering regularly to grow in relationship with GOD and one another. Our world is desperately in need of models worth following. And, indeed, the people of GOD are equally desperate for examples of how to live a life worthy of our calling. King David is the only person in all of Scripture to be called “a man after GOD’s own heart” and is mentioned more in the New Testament than any other biblical figure.

David seems to have experienced a little bit of everything: a nobody who became a champion, the people’s favorite to being hunted and running for his life, and from just king to murderer. Actually, there seems to be a little of each of us reflected in his life. Meanwhile, amidst the gritty reality of his life, triumphs and struggles alike, David stands for us as a shining example of GOD’s faithfulness and of a life worth living.

As our community continues journeying through Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, we’ve come across the issue of the special giftings that the HOLY SPIRIT has blessed the church with as a measure of grace from GOD. We recognize that this topic from Scripture is relatively new to our community and has also been a point of major mis-understanding within the Christian tradition. So, if you weren’t able to be with us for that gathering (or if you’d like to review!) we strongly encourage you to listen to Josh’s teaching from Ephesians 4:1-16 available here.

For those of you that were with us, Josh referenced a short paper explaining each of the spiritual gifts mentioned in scripture. For your convenience the paper is available here for download!
